It is one of the most valuable of nuts. The two most popular varieties of walnut are the English and the Black Walnut. English walnuts are the most widely available and are available year-round. Walnut (Juglans sp.) is the most important temperate nut fruit of the country. Walnut in India are found in differet sizes and shapes. The Indian walnuts are categorized into 4 categories viz., paper-shelled, thin-shelled, medium-shelled and hard-shelled The total walnut export from India during the year 2007-08 was 6716 MT with a value of Rs. 162 crores. India exports walnut to Spain, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nepal, Indonesia and Singapore
